Puerto Plata Whale Watching – The humpback whales are regular hosts of Samana Bay.
Every year, from mid-January to mid-April, these huge mammals leave the Arctic to give birth in the protected Samana Bay on the east coast of the Dominican Republic.
Whales have been hibernating in this area for centuries. This is certified by photos of tainos caves (indigenous people) that are located near the national park “Los Haitises” which represent a jump of a whale.
The humpback whale is a marine mammal known for its vivacity and songs, they can measure up to a length of 15 meters and a weight of 30 tons.
It is also called humpback, jubarte or humpback whale. Its body is massive, black on the top and whitish on the ventral part. The dorsal fin is placed at two-thirds of the body’s length.
You will be aboard our comfortable boats to enjoy and you whale watching and their little glue constantly to their mother in their natural environment is turquoise blue lagoons and bordered by white sand beaches.
We advise you during your free time to swim in the same turquoise waters and let time matter to change your surroundings a little more, before re-turning to Puerto-Plata. !!!
